Ballyfermot erase the pain of last year's Junior Two Championship defeat.

Only a year after losing out to Wanderers in the Junior Two Club Football Championship Final, Ballyfermot De La Salle were back in this year's decider and recorder a 3-15 to 2-8 victory over Shankill in O'Toole Park on Sunday.

The early signs for Ballyfermot in this season's tital match were ominous to say the least as they shipped two goals in the opening five minutes.

Championship 02But still, they fought back to head in at the halftime break level 2-4 to 1-7. Kev McBride finding the back of the net after he latched on to a long delivery by Karl Delaney just prior to the recess.

Mark Smith was proving deadly both from placed balls and play, chalking up five points before the break with Ryan Casserly and Mark Smith also splitting the posts to help Ballyfermot level.

Championship 01Despite playing into the breeze in the second period, last year's finalists, who were ably led by captain Shane Doyle, maintained their momentum, Smith taking his tally to 1-9 as he too found the net.

McBride chalked up a second goal while James Bracken and substitute Christy O'Sullivan also pointed.

Young Luke Kelly was superb at the back for the eventual winners while the energy of Allen McConnell and midfielder Charlie Murray was to also prove essential to their cause.
